Emerald Forest

by Hazel (age 9)
Ferns so green on the ground,
Birds sing a musical sound,
Trees stretching high,
Going to the sky,
Beautiful forest around me,
Like a green emerald sea.

Dappled Shade

by Hazel and Angela
Light cascade,
To dappled shade,
Trees above,
A living ceiling,
So majestic,
Am I dreaming?
Song birds rest,
In tree tops high,
Nature's melody,
Into the sky

Flee

by Hazel and Angela
Charging, chasing,
Heart a racing,
Dashing through,
Thick undergrowth.
Coyote closing,
On my trail,
Homeward,
I must run.

Racing

by Hazel and Angela
Charging, chasing,
My heart racing,
Dashing forward,
To the end,
Now I'm sprinting,
Trophy glinting,
I am going to win

My Aeroplane

I'm going to make an aeroplane,
I know just how to do it,
I'll fold up a gigantic map,
And glue a cushion to it.

I'll sit on my seat so soft,
Dad will launch me into the sky,
I'll zoom right up to waiting clouds,
I'm not scared of flying high.

If by chance I get lost,
I can check the map,
Wave to all the pretty birds,
And give my arms a flap.

When at last I get home,
Mom will make sure I'm fed,
I'll tell them all about my flight,
Before I slip dreamily into bed.

Mountain Lake

By Angela and Hazel

Mountains rise,
To misty skies,
Below evergreen,
Dew forest lies,
Shadows adrift,
On liquid glass lake,
Birds chorus,
The morn to wake,
Ripples lazily,
Lap pebbled shore,
On lofty draughts,
Eagles soar,
Timid fish,
In currents glide,
Serenity brings,
Peace inside.

A Serious Person

by Hazel, age 9

The serious person has a face like a rock,
He does not smile,
The joker is the opposite of that,
He never frowns,
Only clowns.

A Tree Bridge

by Felix, age 7

I made a tree bridge in the forest,
The tree was way too small,
The stump was way too narrow,
But the tree went up to the moon.

The Fir Tree Who Sneezed

by Hazel, age 9
There was a fir tree who liked bees,
However the bees do not like Fir trees,
Because they do sneeze,
ACHOOOOOOOO!

Pokemon In the Desert

by Felix, age 7

When I was walking in the forest,
I found a path that lead to the desert,
A very short one,
Even though it was very far from the desert,
I found a Pokemon fossil,
I thought it was a chicken fossil,
Until it turned into an Anorith.

The Anorith used poison sting on me,
I used my Pikachu to use thunderbolt on it,
I threw a Poke ball at it,
Now it's my new Pokemon friend.

Barnacled Rocks

By Angela
Editor and ideas supplier: Hazel

There I stood,
At the edge,
Of the sand,
Barnacled rock,
In each hand.

Waves beckoning,
Throw them in,
Give them flight,
In early morn,
Dew light.

Cool sand shifts,
Beneath bare,
Toes curling,
Catapult arms,
Unfurling.

Rocks flying,
Through misty,
Startled air,
Sea breeze blowing,
Tousled hair.

Rocks impact,
The serene,
Sparkling sea,
Immersed in life,
Forever free.

My Puppy Cooper

By Felix, age 7
Cooper jumps,
Cooper leaps,
Cooper chases rocks and pine cones,
Cooper bites,
Owwweeeeeee!

Boulders

by Felix, age 7
A round boulder can be rolled,
A square one cannot,
A rectangular boulder can be climbed,
A round one cannot.
AAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH,
Splat.

A Rocky Path

by Felix, age 7
A rocky path tumbles,
A rocky path disappears,
A soft path,
Is lined with trees.

Team Rocket's Baboon

By Hazel, age 9
I saw Team Rocket's balloon,
And in it was a baboon!
Team Rocket was yelling,
And there was no way of telling,
How big was the baboon.

The First Canine Helicopter

by Angela
editor:Hazel
My puppy drank Mom's coffee,
And was over caffeinated,
His little eyes looked quite surprised,
So I watched and I waited.

Then he pounce up on the table,
Scoffed Mom's cinnamon bun,
Leapt onto the counter,
And devoured another one.

He rocketed straight into the air,
And streaked around the room,
Crashed into the closet,
Gobbled up the broom.

He danced up on the lampshade,
Somersaulted across the floor,
Pirouetted on the toaster,
And smashed right through the door.

My puppy was so happy,
His tail spun round and round,
I hugged him round is neck,
And our six feet left the ground.

Now there are paw prints on the lamp shade,
The door has a dog shaped hole,
And when puppy and I are very bored,
I pour coffee in his bowl.

We've flown all over Europe,
The Americas were a blast,
Asia was so amazing,
Australasia went by too fast.

Next we're off to Russia,
To see the famous Red Square,
Then speed off to the Arctic,
To look for a polar bear.

My puppy and I love traveling,
Even in the snow,
And NASA has declared us,
An offical UFO!

Let's Not Tidy Up Today

Let's not tidy up today,
Tidying is such a bore,
Why put all the toys away?
I want to play some more!

I'll play boating at the sink,
Pour water from bottles to jars,
Then tip all my trains out,
And race them with with the cars!

I'm going to build a tower,
The bricks will pile up high,
Make twenty aeroplanes,
And launch them into the sky!

I'm going to fill water balloons,
Drop them from the ledge,
Take out the play scissors,
And snip flowers from the hedge!

I'll play with the backyard hose,
Water our pet dog,
Make a huge mud puddle,
And throw in a big log!

I'm going to dig in the sand box,
With my bucket and spade,
Make a little fish pond,
And fill it with lemonade!

I'll take every book off the shelf,
Cover the front room floor,
And when we've read them all,
We'll scour the house for more!

Mom don't worry about the mess,
A night fairy cleans for me,
While we both sleep and dream,
She tidy's up for FREE!

Ingrid The Smily Witch

Can I whisper you a tale,
About a smiling witch?
Ingrid would even smile,
When she zoomed into a ditch!

The others said it wasn't right,
For a witch to smile,
A proper witch looks serious,
And smells of something vile.

Ingrid looked at her bat,
Hanging up side down,
She thought "if I do that,
My smile would be a frown!"

But hanging up by her toes,
Was not so very easy,
Her magic hat fell right off,
And it made her stomach queasy.

Flushing a deep shade of green,
Her smile turned to a frown,
But the other silly witches,
Thought she was smiling up-side down!

"Ingrid broke the smiling rule,"
The others did cackle and croon,
Abracamonkious hairykaflunkious,
You are now a hairy Baboon!"

Ingrid rather liked the change,
Now she smiles all day long,
Grins, giggles, laughs out loud,
And sings a happy song!

The Storm-Flower

by Hazel , age 9
When I walked up the street,
I was pelted with falling sleet,
Then it began to rain,
And then start to sleet again,
I thought the weather was going crazy,
So I asked my friend Maisy,
She said "it is the pot,
Of the Quangle Wangle Quot,
It controls the weather,
And is lined with heather,
It's usually filled with stormflowers,
And that is why there are so many showers",
I found that the Storm-flowers were all rotten,
And there wasn't even a fresh one at the bottom,
So I set off to find Storm-flowers,
I picked them for twenty-four hours,
When I had the lot,
I put them in the pot,
I wondered how a simple flower,
Could have so much power,
So I peeled the petals back,
In it was a small blue sack,
In that was a fairy,
Who was ever so hairy,
Now the hairy fairy and I are friends,
And that is how my poem ends.
